Obituary for Gerald E. "Bus" Adams

ALEXANDRIA, IN- Gerald E. “Bus” Adams, 91, began breathing heavenly air at 6:45 am on Friday, August 10, 2018 from the Alexandria Care Center following an extended illness.

He was born in Summitville on September 7, 1926 to Granville “Dude” and Mildred (Cassell) Adams and has lived in Alexandria most of his lifetime. “Bus” was graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1944. He had worked at Aladdin and Pierce Governor. He retired from Delco-Remy Plant 10 in 1988 after 34 years of employment. In his early years, Bus was very active in sports. He coached church league softball and basketball in Alexandria and softball in Anderson. He was also a well-known farmer in the Monroe Township area. Bus was a longtime and active member of the Alexandria First Baptist Church and supported the church faithfully. Bus leaves us a legacy of loving God and love of his family.

4 Great-Grandchildren-Austin Adams, Alisha Adams, Jacob Benzenbower and Justin Benzenbower
Special Friends-Rachel (John) Jamerson Jade, Sophia and Parker
Brother- John (Diane) Adams-Plant City, Florida
Several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 68 years Norma Jean (Baker) Adams in 2014, daughter-in-law-Kitty Adams, 3 sisters-infant Evelyn Adams, Violet (Marc) Ferguson, Virginia (Rev. Frances) Gough and sister-in-law-Ruth Ann (Rev. Phil) Blake.

Services honoring Bus’s life, legacy and faith will take place on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 3 pm in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Bus’s nephew, the Rev. Mark Gough will officiate. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria after 12 Noon on Friday prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Activity Fund of the Alexandria Care Center through the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of both CrownPointe of Anderson and the Alexandria Care Center for their compassionate care of Bus and his family.
