Obituary for Frank Conrad Sturm

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-Frank Conrad Sturm, 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Fishers, Indiana.
Frank was born in Elwood, Indiana on August 29, 1930 to Kathryn (Lutgenau) and Conrad Frank Sturm. Frank was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s parish of Alexandria and a graduate of Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie Du Chien, WI. He attended Xavier University prior to joining the United States Navy in March of 1951. In 1959 he married Anne Madden and together they raised 7 children. Upon Anne's passing in 1985, Frank dedicated his time to raising his children and serving as an active citizen and businessman in Alexandria. Frank spent his career working for the Glove Corporation, a family business in Alexandria Indiana, Flat Rock, Illinois, Calico Rock and Heber Springs, Arkansas, along with Worth Racing, and Pyrotect Racing both in Alexandria. From 1968 - 1977 he was a member of Alexandria Community Development Corporation acting as founder and part owner of Yule Golf Course, Yule Apartments, Yule Estates and Woodlawn Acres. He was co-owner of Al-Man Corporation, co-owner of Alexandria Auto Body and owner of L&S Knitting. Along with his wife Anne, he co-owned The Spirit Shop, The Bottle Shop and 2 other liquor stores in Madison County. Frank was a member of the Elks and the Eagles in Alexandria, he was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman who loved spending time on the lake with his family.
Frank married Sharon Stegall in April 2002. They spent 17 wonderful years together enjoying their retirement while living on Lake Tippecanoe and in Indianapolis.
Frank is survived by his wife, Sharon Sturm, of Indianapolis, Children-Dr. Elizabeth (Timothy) Brater, Indianapolis, Suzanne Sturm (Lee Baran), New York, New York, Kathryn Sturm, Indianapolis, Jennifer Sturm Ables (Kevin) Muncie, Rebecca (Christopher) Danehy, East Greenwich, Rhode Island, step-daughters Christian (Michael) McDonald, Fishers, and Cheri Douglass, Anderson. Grandchildren- Anne Pappas, Chicago, Illinois, Rylee Sturm, Alexandria, Patrick and Brendan Danehy, East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Sister - Kathleen (Thomas) Walsh, Port St.Joe, Florida, brother-Dr. Joseph (Rosann) Sturm, Bloomington and sister in-law Marsha Madden-Alexandria and many loving nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. Frank was a friend to everyone he met, and will be lovingly remembered for his kind spirit. In honor of Frank, his family asks that you raise a cold beer in his memory.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Anne (Madden) Sturm, sons Francis and John Sturm, sister Mary Ann Oleksy, brothers-in-law Robert Oleksy and John Madden, stepsons Eric and Tony Stegall, and nephew Anthony Oleksy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Monday, February 25, 2019 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1306 S. A Street, Elwood, IN with Father Dan Duff as Celebrant and Father Paul Cochran as concelebrant. Interment service with Military Honors will follow at Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the Noffze Funeral Home, 501 North Harrison Street, Alexandria on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A Rosary Service will take place at 6:00 pm, Sunday at the funeral home.
