Obituary for Louise "Lou" Chappel

ALEXANDRIA, IN- Louise O. “Lou” Chappel, 93, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at her residence in Alexandria following a brief illness.

She was born August 17, 1924 in Owenton, Kentucky to Charlie and Bertha (Nash) O’Banion and has lived in Alexandria for the past 13 years. Lou had worked in office management for 25 years for various companies. She devoted most of her lifetime to ministry with more than 20 years as a co-pastor and evangelist. She has served as a Sectional Director over 28 churches for the South Bend/Logansport district of the Assemblies of God, Aglow Chapter President in Anderson, Indiana, President of Harvesters Club “Women’s Auxiliary” for Channel 40 WHMB TV with Dr. Lester Sumrall, many local interdenominational ladies groups, co-pastor for Prime Timers at Trinity Chapel in Atlanta, Georgia, co-pastor of Radiant Assemblies of God in Atlanta, Georgia and Leader of the 50’s Plus ministry at Cornerstone Community Church in Alexandria. Lou thoroughly enjoyed God’s creation by working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed leading and participating in exercise groups. “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”

15 Great-Grandchildren
Special Friends-King and Diann Herkomer-Anderson

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years-Dr. Charles F. Chappel on February 7, 2018, siblings-Lucille Clifton, Victor O’Banion, Kenneth O’Banion, Mable Wilson and Hazel Layton.

Service of Home Going will take place at 11 am on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Cornerstone Community Church, 1010 North Park Avenue, Alexandria with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the Cornerstone Community Church on Thursday from 6 pm to 8 pm and on Friday after 10 am prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Cornerstone Community Church through the funeral home.
